How many women and men in Canada get breast cancer?

In Canada, an estimated 22,700 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, and approximately 5,400 women lost their battle with the disease. It is also expected that 180 men were diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 50 died because of breast cancer, in 2009.

I have a lump in my breast and I want to get into the Centre. Who do I talk to?

You should see your family doctor. Please be aware that there is a limited capacity at the Centre and not everyone who is referred can be seen. Capacity to see patients will increase when further funding is received to help build the Centre. All patients screened by The Gattuso Rapid Diagnostic Clinic for breast cancer must be referred by a doctor. The Centre will not accept walk-in patients. For more information, please call 416-946-2297. Please fax patient referrals to 416-946-2370.
